Deckhand

Sailing Saugatuck is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deckhand to join our team aboard the Schooner Serenity. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on beautiful Lake Michigan, providing memorable experiences for our guests on day and sunset cruises. You'll be an integral part of our small, close-knit crew, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of everyone on board.

• Assist the Captain and First Mate in all sailing operations, including setting and trimming sails.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of the deck, cabins, and common areas.
• Provide excellent customer service to guests, answering questions and ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Perform safety briefings and monitor guest behavior to ensure adherence to safety protocols.
• Assist with guest boarding and disembarking.
• Help with general maintenance and upkeep of the vessel.

• Prior experience working on a sailboat or in a maritime environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of sailing terminology and basic seamanship.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina to perform duties in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Familiarity with basic mechanical or repair skills for a vessel.
• A passion for sailing and sharing that experience with others.
• Experience in the hospitality or tourism industry.
